With only one seat (Fairfax) yet to be declared and well over twenty changes of sitting members in the House of Representatives, it is an ideal time for schools to be contacting their local member’s offices to arrange a visit to your schools. For those MPs who are new to the role, it is an opportunity for you to welcome them and express appreciation for their willingness to serve their community in this significant way. It is also a time to introduce them to your school community – students, parents and staff. At this early stage in the electoral cycle, it is important to focus on building a relationship with them.
